Learning basic meditation techniques to restore and maintain a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual balance: Couples. A ten minutes daily meditation practice is essential for leading a positive lifestyle:
- Remaining at peace with ourselves and everyone around us;
- Remaining in control of our thoughts and emotions;
- Releasing any thought, pain, or anger that has been weighing on your heart;
- Raising the vibration of our relationships.
Meditation Techniques: Couples
Every meditation practice should start and should end with three deep breaths, and with the total awareness of our physical body. We should also clearly state our intention before beginning a meditation practice. In order to remain grounded, coming out of a meditation practice should always be peaceful; slowly bringing back our focus to our physical body, starting at our head, and ending at our feet.
Love and Trust
This meditation technique should only be practiced with someone you love, and trust entirely. You will be allowing your partner to look deep within your soul; making yourself very vulnerable as you reveal your deepest fears and insecurities. This meditation technique can also be practiced with a close friend, or a member of your family.
Raising the vibration of your relationship
This meditation technique will allow you to connect deeply with your partner, and raise the vibration of your relationship. The first three to five minutes might seem very silly, and don’t be surprised if you both burst out laughing hysterically. Enjoy it, have fun, allow the child within you to emerge, but once the silliness has past, attempt to complete this exercise for 10 minutes uninterrupted:
- Sit facing each other, legs crossed and knees touching;
- Each rest your left hand above your touching-knees, on each other’s left (palms facing up);
- Each rest your right hand on the other’s left hand, on each other’s right (palms facing down);
- Focus on the energy building up between your palms, and stare deeply into each other’s eyes, past the physical eyes, and into your partner’s soul; lose yourself within;
- Do your best not to disconnect your palms, or look away.
Our left palm, having the receptive female qualities of the moon, water, and earth, acts as the input; it allows our physical body to receive spiritual energies. Our right palm, having the projective masculine qualities of the sun, fire, and air, acts as the output; it allows our physical body to release spiritual energies. Therefore, holding your palms together will balance your spiritual energies and align your states of consciousness; syncing yourselves up to each other.
Honesty and Humbleness
The final part of this exercise is to have a heart-to-heart talk with you partner; keep it honest, and remain humble. Express what you have both experienced (feelings, visions, memories, etc.) and then release any thought, pain, or anger that has been weighing on your heart; always in Light and Love.
It is preferable to meditate first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, facing east; the rising sun will fill us with Divine energy. If we choose to sit on the floor or on a chair, we are facing east, but if we choose to lie on our back, our head should be pointing east. Every meditation practice should also be adapted to our personal level of comfort.
Incense will enhance our focus and our meditation experience. Sandalwood is one of the most calming incense and therefore is one of the preferred ones for meditation. It calms the mind, enhances mental clarity, and aids in the opening of the Third Eye.
